Bayern Munich Wipe the Floor with Real Madrid

Champions League Highlights

Tuesday Night Football: Bayern 9-1 Real Madrid

In front of 25,000 of their own fans, Bayern Munich put on a show for their supporters. The Germans raced into a 7-0 lead by half time and eventually won the game 9-1. The victory gives Bayern a commanding lead going into the second leg of the semi-final. Real Madrid will need to score at least five goals at the Bernabeu if they are to progress to the final.

The match was played at a frantic pace from the off, with both teams looking to attack. Bayern took the lead after just three minutes when Robert Lewandowski headed home from a cross by Thomas Muller. The Polish striker then added a second just ten minutes later, finishing off a fine move involving Muller and Joshua Kimmich.

Real Madrid were struggling to cope with the pace and intensity of Bayern's play, and they fell further behind when Muller scored a stunning goal from 25 yards out. The German winger then turned provider for Lewandowski, who completed his hat-trick just before half-time.

The second half was more of the same, with Bayern continuing to dominate. Real Madrid did manage to pull a goal back through Karim Benzema, but it was nothing more than a consolation. Bayern added further goals through Kimmich, Serge Gnabry, and Leon Goretzka to complete the rout.

The victory was Bayern's biggest ever win in the Champions League, and it will give them a huge psychological boost going into the second leg. Real Madrid, on the other hand, will need to produce a miracle if they are to progress to the final.
