Argentina Continues Fine Form with Thrashing
Lionel Messi scored all five of Argentina's goals in a runaway 5-0 win over Estonia in a friendly in Pamplona, Spain on Sunday.
It was the first time Messi has scored five goals in a match for Argentina. The win was Argentina's sixth in a row and extended their unbeaten streak to 33 matches.
Messi opened the scoring in the 8th minute and added a second in the 45th minute. He completed his hat-trick in the 56th minute and scored his fourth in the 71st minute. He rounded out the scoring with a penalty kick in the 76th minute.
Messi's performance was all the more impressive considering that he was playing against a team that was ranked 110th in the FIFA World Rankings. Argentina, meanwhile, is ranked 3rd in the world.
The win was a good warm-up for Argentina, who will face Brazil in a friendly on September 22. The match will be a rematch of the 2021 Copa America final, which Argentina won 1-0.
